Yamaha RD250

The engine on my Yamaha RD250 features a lot of painted parts. This means that I have to take a different approach to restore the parts to "as new".

  • Clean the parts and use paint stripper to take the parts back to bare aluminium
  • Clean as required to remove paint stipper residue and remove any grease (fingerprints for example) that will stop the etch primer from bonding with the aluminium
  • Spray with acid etch primer
  • Spray with the base colour (black in this case)
  • Add any graphics and logos
  • Finish off with lacquer

You can see these processes in the gallery.
